The Art of Supervision
Engage with the theory and practice of supervision. Exploring the skills required at various stages of the supervision journey. Particular focus will be given to developing a contemplative stance as a supervisor.
This course is designed to form participants in the art and practice of supervision. It is for those who want to:
Sue Dunbar and Liz Anne Smith will share their wisdom and experience, accompanying participants as they explore and deepen their own practice of supervision, including using models developed by Lucy Abbott-Tucker and others.
Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course.

- Refresh and expand existing supervision skills
- Gain more from their own supervision experience.

$1000 for the intensive (subsidised rates available upon request) and $600 for 6 x individual supervised practicum sessions ($100 each)

Liz Anne Smith TC. MALiz Anne received her training in spiritual direction from the Institute for Spiritual Leadership in Chicago, and her Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies at Loyola University in Chicago.
She was formerly a member of the Australian Ecumenical Council for Spiritual Direction, and was National Secretary of Australian Network for Spiritual Direction. Liz Anne is an experienced Spiritual Director & Pastoral and Spiritual Direction Supervisor who has been involved in the training and formation of spiritual directors for the past 21 years in four different Spiritual Direction formation programs. Sue Dunbar BSc, DipED, MA SpiritualitySue Dunbar trained in spiritual direction and supervision at the Institute for Spiritual Leadership in Chicago and is experienced in the contemplative approach to spiritual direction and supervision. She recently retired as Director of Barnabas Ministries.
Sue has developed and directed a number of spiritual direction training programs over the past 20 years. She has also developed and taught supervision of spiritual directors and retreat teams. Sue is passionate about supporting the spiritual direction community in Australia with well-trained spiritual directors and supervisors. She continues to offer supervision for spiritual directors and people in pastoral settings. Sue has also assisted and team taught with Lucy Abbott Tucker in each of the five supervision workshops that were offered by Barnabas Ministries from 2013 to 2018.
